Widespread investment and growth

The London Riverside area stretches from East London to Rainham Marshes. Part of the Thames Gateway redevelopment zone, the area is undergoing major investment, in part courtesy of the Rainham Compass programme, an initiative spearheaded by Havering Council. This includes new station environment at Rainham, a new station planned in Beam Reach, new library and the regional renowned Rainham marshes open to the public.

The cultural centre of Hornchurch has undergone extensive town centre improvements with the aim of supporting this attractive, well-connected and prosperous town with inspirational spaces and plenty of scope for business growth.

Romford Masterplan

Havering Council is leading the preparation of a Masterplan for Romford.  The Masterplan, which will be underpinned by consultation with residents, businesses and other stakeholders, will set a vision for a vibrant town with residential and employment growth accompanied by new public spaces to create a quality environment to live and work in.  The Masterplan will encourage investment by providing guidance to developers  in the form of a Supplementary Planning Document.  Consultation on the Masterplan will take place throughout 2019 with completion due by December 2019.
