Future Developments

Havering is undergoing several major regeneration and development programmes. Crossrail is the region’s newest high frequency, high capacity railway. Connecting London to the South East, it will call at three of the borough’s stations which will enjoy substantial enhancement thanks to the programme.

London Riverside is currently undergoing major regeneration. It is expected that by 2016, 25,000 jobs and 20,000 new homes will have been created together with extensive leisure facilities including a National Trust property and an RSPB wildlife reserve. Design work is underway for a new railway station at Beam Park in Rainham connecting it to London Fenchurch Street, creating potential for 4,000 new homes, two primary schools and much employment. The Romford Leisure Development will bring swimming pools, an ice rink and numerous leisure facilities into the heart of Romford.

Havering actively supports and often spearheads such programmes, delivering incredible potential for the borough, its residents and its businesses.
